Daily doze

Many attempted to change the world... promised to make this planet a better place to live in... only for them to taste disappointment and failure... Because it's impossible to change this world alone... Not the president, not the people, not the government, not the church, not the most powerful country, not even you or me... it takes every person on this planet earth to surpass daily struggles and make each day relevant...

" Hours are too short, years are too long
Days are the bite-size portion of life "

In our attempt to change our perspective towards are daily effort: like greeting the day with a smile, eating healthy breakfast, doing your homework, studying your lessons, going to school/office early, stretching your patience to a driver who cuts you, greeting the security guard in your office, smiling to your officemate you'll bump along the hallway, giving a hand to a friend in need, reading a good book, being grateful for your job, giving your best at work, being a mentor to your younger brother or sister - in this seemingly irrelevant events of our day we are actually changing the world...

Dog's diary versus Cat's diary

I heard this funny sharing during one of our midweek service, and I can't wait to google it and post it in my blog.

Let's uncover what's written in a dog's diary and compare to its no.1 rival - the cat. As to how these diaries are found, I just need you to trust me on this...

Cat's Diary

Day 983 of My Captivity

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. But for now I can wait, it is only a matter of time...

Funny right?! Now the question is, Are you more of a dog or a cat?

Free Online Payroll at suweldo.net

Can you relate to this employee who get his payslip then (by default) check the net pay amount. Period. And does not even care to look at the deduction portion of his payslip but is regularly annoyed by the screaming withholding tax figure plus the mandatory deductions (SSS, Philhealth and Pagibig/HDMF) yet don't bother to check the computations cause you find it all complicated... Try to check this site, surely it can help you compute and understand the figures on your payslip...

Suweldo.net provides FREE online payroll computation... they also have an impressive list of features:

* Automatically compute SSS, PhilHealth and HDMF Deductions
* Automatically compute Withholding Tax based on weekly, semi-monthly, monthly or annualized modes
* Automatically deduct loan payments and monitor loan balances
* Automatically compute gross pay and net pay based on standard or customized payroll computations. If your company requires a customized computation method, please email us at support@suweldo.net
* PhilHealth, SSS, WTAX, and HDMF Calculator
* File Report Generator for PhilHealth ( Beta )
* File Report Generator for SSS ( Beta )
* File Report Generator for WTAX ( Coming Soon )
* Payroll Computation Editor ( Coming Soon )

Although companies have different policies in computing their salary adjustments, overtime and night differential(which I did not find in their online service), I think this is a fair start to understand the basic computation for the mandatory deductions. Plus you can also check the updated SSS, Philhealth and Withholding tax table on this site, which I really find helpful...

BTW, I haven't tried their dowloadable version yet since I'm quite satisfied with the online stuff so far, anyone who can go through it and try kindly lemme know...

Everything's Alright

by Christian City Church (Oxford Falls)
from the album "Higher"

You're my light, You're with me everyday
You're my rock. You blow the storms away
Miracles are never too far
The only place I wanna be is where You are

You give joy, You bring hope
Your love shines down, wherever I go

Everything's alright, I've got Jesus with me
Everything's alright, My Savior is walking with me

Everything Everything's alright 3x
Everything's alright

Powerful lyrics + Upbeat rhythm
Listening to this song last Sunday during our Praise & Worship gathering did assure me that there's is no reason to fear and get frustrated in life especially when my plans doesn't turn out well. For God is good and everything will be alright cause Jesus is with me...
Not convince?! Listen to Everything's Alright

Joshua 1:9 (New International Version)
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Pray for great prayers

January reminds me of God's faithfulness for the past year and God's promises for the coming year.

This is the time of renewing the hope that keeps us dreaming; the faith that keeps us believing and the love that keeps us loving people both endearing and abominable.

Most importantly this is the time of uttering prayers ranging from our personal dreams, our journey of faith, advancement of God's kingdom to the development of our country. Which makes me ponder on what kind of prayers am I praying for this year? Am I praying for petty things? Or asking God to do great and impossible in my life?

A speaker once said, why would we make smallish prayers, isn't our God big enough to accomplish His plans for us? Why would we limit God who can do amazingly and even beyond all that we ask for? God is challenging us to pray for great and mighty things so that people will see how great our God is.

Prayers are not meant to be less than great. So let's pray for great prayers this year.

A different look of LOVE

I like the thought I heard from one speaker, that love is more of a complementary than a supplementary thing.

You should never say that someone completes you. Cause you don’t find someone to supplement the longing that you have. For needing a certain someone is not love but dependency. You need to feel whole even you're by yourself, cause if you are not happy being alone, you’ll never be complete having someone who is also unhappy. Making the scenario worse... imagine two unhappy individual finding happiness from each other.

This may sounds fair or unfair to you. But for me love is a union of two complete individuals that complements one another - know who they are… content with themselves… So search not for someone who will complete you, but for someone who will complement your completeness.

Isip-Bata: Suhol

A cousin of mine once overheard one of our niece, Ailanie, age 6, talking to her playmates. Scenario goes, Ailanie and her friend Maya was playing when another kid came along to tell Maya that her mom is calling her to go home already. Listen how Ailanie responded in this situation, makes me wonder what's running through her little brains...

Ailanie: Huwag mo pauwiin si Maya... Bayaran kita!?

I'm bursting into laughter when I heard this story... But I also felt that I was stabbed with a rusty knife in the heart realizing that in Ailanie's such age she already knew how to bribe other kids.

Poor little one I just can't imagine what the other kid answered in Ailanie's offer. Did she took the offer? Or did she insisted Maya to go home? I regret I didn't have the guts to find out...

Wrapping up 2008!

I had a lot of things to be grateful for this year. Not obvious?! but I am... You see I'm not an expressive kind of person (excuses, excuses) but I'm trying to catch up.

Lemme just list that down:

| supportive family | old friends | exist global | colleagues | career |
| sunday school students | new faces I met | interesting books I've read |
| VBE & Kid's camp experience | good health | new blog site |
| added skills in software testing | new stuff | reunions & get-together's |
| new house | GOD |

Thanks 2008 :) and Hello 2009!

New year... new books

January 02, 2009 >> After almost a year of searching I finally grabbed a copy of the "Letters from a Skeptic" book by Dr. Gregory Boyd. It was really a blessing because I got it more than half the price from the original. I first saw it in OMF Bookstore last August, 2008 for Php560.00 but now I bought it for only Php240.00 in BookSale, Robinson's Fairview. Definitely one of my best book and best buy... What a great deal to start 2009 :D

Watch out for my book review on this in my new blog Read... Write... Live...
