Who You Are

Spoken poetry is like a music to my ears. A mouthwatering dessert which I will never grew tired of indulging myself. The last thing I knew I was hooked into it. I never imagined I'd be addicted to Sarah Kay for sometime. Tonight, spoken poetry find its way back home. :)

Below video is another powerful and eloquent form of spoken poetry which should be heard by every woman here in the planet. A poem that is worth the cyberspace memory. A poem worth sharing. A poem that will inspire you to be the woman you are created to be. The woman of God!

You are beautiful
You are smart
You are funny
You are kind
You are unique
You are worthy of love and affection
You are never too much
You are always enough
You are precious
You are a diamond, a rose, a pearl
The most stunning of all God's creation
You are worth more than you could ever imagine
Worth more than the numbers on the scale
Or the hair products you use
Or the shoes you wear
More than how many girls wish they were you
Or how many guys wish they had you
More than the price tag in your clothes
Or the percentage of  the top of your Math tests
Or even the numbers of followers you have in Twitter
Your worth surpasses all earthly things because in the eyes of the Lord God
You are loved
You are worth dying for
Regardless of who you think you are
Whether you are a model in the magazine or you model pottery with grandma
Whether you are in the hot list of the not list
Whether you are head cheer leader or a high school drop out
Whether you are miss popular or you never had anyone you could call a friend
Whether you love yourself and love your life or you can't stand to look in the mirror and you feel as if everything in your life is falling apart
Whether you are such a winner or you feel you're the world's biggest failure
Regardless of who you think you are, the reality is,
Is that you deserve someone who would give up their life for you
Because you are powerful
You are strong
You are capable
Read about the women in the bible Esther, Ruth, Martha, Mary
Each women changed the world forever
And inside of you, each and every one of you
Is the woman with the same power, same world changing capability
And your responsibility is to find that woman and set that woman free
This is who you are
And any voices in your mind that tell you differently are from the enemy
And the next time you hear it, this is what you say
You say, "Na Ah! Not me Satan!
I am a daughter of the living God.
Cherished, loved and adored
Above all things, by the Creator of all things
For the glory of Him is greater that all things
I am awesome!"
Please, don't you forget.

You Can Make a Difference

You can make a difference.
Your simple act of random kindness can impact one's life.
Your generosity to a stranger may not change your world but it can change his.
Your sincere apology can be the breakthrough that will strengthen your bond.
Your calmness in the midst of chaos can give others that piece of hope they needed in order to survive.
Your genuine smile can brighten up a person's tough day.
Your heartfelt encouragement may save a life.
Your modest pat on the back can bring out the next leader of your country.
Your honest rebuke said with affection may deliver that person from future adversity.
Your loving hug can restore a broken relationship.
Your candid morning greeting can turn a person's morning good!
Your humility to accept your mistake can gain respect from others.
Your compliment can inspire a child to be the athlete, artist or professional he always dreams to be.
Your cheerful presence may set a welcoming mood for others to be themselves.
Your willingness to share can make all the difference.

Hope this 3 minute video sparks a new perspective on how we should look at humanity.

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” --Winston Churchill

I Wrote This For You

I wrote this vow even before I met you.
Not because I am a typical girl who believes in fairytale love story.
Or a princess who longs for a prince who will sweep her off her feet.

I wrote this because I knew you were real.
Busy working his heart out to build his dreams.
Finding himself and making his own story.
That just like me you are also hopeful.

You may not have a face yet, but I know you are worth more than a face.
You are a soul full of love to give, a man of integrity, a man of God.

You are far from perfect but so am I.
We may not have the ideal relationship but who does have.

Today, I choose you.
To laugh with you in good times and comfort you in your darkest moments.
To grow with you even if it means unlearning things I used to know or relearning things in your perspective.
To build our dreams together.

I cannot promise that you'll never have problems from now on.
But I commit to you that you will never have to face them alone.

I commit to make this relationship work, nurturing it every single day of our life together.
I commit to accept you as who you are and respect our differences.

I don't believe in you.
I don't believe in me.
But I believe in us.
I believe in forever because I knew that you will be there.

Stands versus Court Analogy

In every organization or team there will only be two types of people. The one who is in the stands or the one who is in the court.

The one who is in the stands are people who can shout to the top of their lungs and blabber all they want while watching the game. These are the people who highlights the problem but doesn't provide solutions to it. They are the ones who doesn't give way for others opinion because what only matters to them is theirs as if their idea will solve the greatest problem of humanity. People who are easy to point out the mistakes of others. People who does not know how to listen. People who are fast to criticize but slow to compliment. But these kind of people no matter how loud they shout, they will never be able to add a single point of advantage for the team, because they are not really part of the game.

On the other hand, the one who is in the court is a team player.  A person who understands that no role is trivial, for every position if done efficiently will be a fundamental contribution for the team to achieve its goal. He is a person who is humble enough to recognize other player's talent and encourage them. Person who is not afraid to share his knowledge and build up people. Not insecure enough to think that others might outshine them. Person who recognize that it's not all the time that his ideas are the best ones. Person who accepts his weaknesses but work his way out in improving himself. He is the kind of person who gives his best and do the extra mile in every task assigned to him. A person who does not crave for approval and validation of his skill because he already knew what he's capable of. The one who is in the court will always have the opportunity to contribute to the team, because they chose to be part of the solution.

What kind of employee are you? Don't remain shouting in the stands when you can be the one playing in the court. And when the time comes that the ball is in your hand, work your heart out and give your best. You'd never know, the crowd would never know, that that single shot you'll make could define the winning moment for your team.

First heard this analogy during one of the scrums slash team meeting we had from my lead here in Singapore. And I would say one of my light bulb moment. Only this time I have the chance to write about it. Finally!

God's Hand in Your Life

Had the privilege of watching CCF's 29th Anniversary Sunday preaching lead by Pastor Peter Tan-Chi today live streamed all the way from Philippines. Amazing that even distance cannot hinder God's word, and technology is utilized strategically to spread God's message.

Pastor Peter taught us practical and spiritual guidance how to have God's hand in our life through the life of Ezra.
"For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the Lord and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel." --Ezra 7:10
If God's hand is in your life, it doesn't mean you'll have no problem. But it guarantees God's favour, protection and blessing. And that's more than enough!

How to have God's hand in your life?

1. Set your heart
The condition of your heart is essential.

In marriage, if your heart is not set right, you can use every problem or discomfort as an excuse to divorce your spouse. But if your heart is set to stick with your spouse no matter what, you could always use every problem an an opportunity to love your spouse even more.

2. Study the word
"...for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humbleTherefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time" --1 Peter 5:5-6
"The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn." --Alvin Toffler
Believing that Bible is the word of God is one thing. Reading the Bible is a different story.

3. Practice it
Love people
Forgive those who hurt you
Do not gossip
Encourage others

4. Teach it
A mediocre teacher tells,
A good teacher illustrates,
An excellent teacher inspires.

In closing, Pastor Peter highlighted that the greatest problem of humanity is not poverty or corruption but SIN, which hinders God's favour to overflow in our lives. It is God's desire to bless His children abundantly, but SIN gets in the way.
"Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short that it cannot save;Nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear." --Isaiah 59:1-2
The good news is, sin could not be our final state. The Lord forgives, if we only humble ourselves and confess all our transgression. He will be more than willing to accept us back in His arms.
