Today at CCF Kid's Church for young kids ages 2-4, we had an interesting story shared to the kids. This is a story from God's Word on how the Lord choose the next king of Israel through His prophet Samuel.
Almost all the kids wanted to join our lesson activity where they role play the story of Samuel going to Jesse of Bethlehem house to anoint the head of the next King. Jesse one by one presented his sons to Samuel, starting with his firstborn Eliab who is good looking and strong. Upon seeing him Samuel thought he will be the king because of his stature, but the Lord told Samuel, he is not the chosen one. Jesse then called for his others sons, Abinadab and Shammah but again none of them were the one chosen by God. Jesse had many sons, so he called for his remaining sons - fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh son. Still none of them God was looking for, until finally Jesse remembered that he still have his youngest son David who is taking care of the sheep that time. They called David and when Samuel saw the boy, the Lord said to him that he is the one God choose to be the next King.
The kids learned that instead of physical appearance the Lord is looking at the heart. God knew our hearts, whether we love Him or not or whether we want to obey Him and do what is right. This lesson was highlighted in our memory verse found in 1 Samuel chapter 16 verse 7b which says,
Memory verse:
" for the Lord sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. "
The kids were all excited to make their own crown and be like King David. Check out these pictures showing how the kids (and the teachers) enjoyed the lesson we have today. To God be all the glory!
