My Epitaph :D

I remember during our Halloween in Exist last year 2007, we had a “Spook your Spot” activity in the office wherein all groups should be able to make their areas in their creepiest and scariest look. And so our group decided to make the QA room a mausoleum like and post our personal epitaphs there. Though it’s all just for fun… making my epitaph makes me reevaluate my life. After some time I came up with the following short list:

1. I wandered in this so called earth for years, Now I’m going home for eternity.

2. I was born to search my destiny; I lived to make it happen; I die to fulfill it. My destiny -- is with God.

3. A woman, a child, a sister, a wife, a mother (hopefully before I die). Prepared to meet the Maker.

4. God created death, to celebrate life.

How about you buddy? Have you ever thought of the appropriate epitaph that would describe your life? As Socrates quoted, “An unexamined life is not worth living for” Plus 1 to that Soc! What is life anyway if we don’t really know why we are here…

So lemme end this post with another quote saying, “Evaluation is the mother of improvement.”

Great is the Lord... my new lifesong :D

Great is the Lord (Hillsong)

From the moment I opened my heart
You gave me Your love from heaven above
King of Glory, Jesus You'll always be mine

Lord I love You, it's all I can say
You amaze me every moment, every day
My creator, Jesus my Lord, always

CHORUS:
From the depths of my heart to the heaven above
There I feel Your embrace and the warmth of Your love
I'm not afraid 'cause Jesus I know You are here
You are here...

You're my Saviour, redeeming grace
Generations will sing of Your praise
Be exalted forever and ever more

Back to CHORUS
*Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise
Great is the Lord, glorified
* ---- repeated
(glorified....)

Back to CHORUS (2x)
You are here...
From the depths of my heart and to the heaven above
You are here
There I feel Your embrace and the warmth of Your love
You are here
Na na na na..... na na na na na...... (repeated)

Uniquely Singapore

Why Singapore is Singapore today? We did not wake up and find Singapore a bustling Asian country just like today... they too started from crap...

More than 60 years ago after the WWII, Singapore did struggle to live ... those were the days where electricity, gas and water are in serious demand... when they could not even provide clean drinking water for their people so they import it from neighboring countries... when population and food shortage was a persistent problem...

But where is Singapore now? You can hardly trace they have gone through all this turmoil... Well, I guess the following statements of the Singaporean youth which you can find posted in one of their many museum answers this:
  • We are Asian and International
  • Think global, stay local
  • We work hard for an easy life
  • We have limited resources but unlimited dreams

Gloomy week for us

Probably last week, 2nd week of November was a gloomy week for me and my family...
To start, Genesis got sick, Godwin was hospitalized, aizel and ramaya got fever and to close(hopefully) nanay and tatay got the virus too. As of now Genesis and Godwin have gone better and the rest are still recovering...
It's a torment to have someone sick in the family moreso if children who can't communicate well and will just break down and cry...
I badly missed times when I came home and all my pamangkins are so excited to see me and get their pasalubongs... Very much looking forward to it as soon as they all get well...

Will Philippines be part of the Asian century?

If the 19th century belongs to Britain, and the 20th century make wave for Americans... who will be making noise in this 21st century... the answer is obvious - it belongs to us, Asians...

With the consecutive bankruptcy filing by Lehman's Brothers and American International Group (AIG)... the wave is really turning from the West to the East... and more Asian countries are dominating the planet...
China - the dragon has awaken and back on its feet;
India - incredibly growing;
Japan - rising with the sun; and
Singapore - uniquely small but terrible.

Yes you heard it right, but the big question is will Philippines be part of this wave of change? Well the answer greatly depends on us... simple things like
- how each Filipino student does his homework
- how each Filipino professional improve their skills and excel
- how each Filipino family nurture and support each family members
- how each Filipino citizen respects the traffic and street rules
- how each Filipino show love for the country and to our God

In short, how Filipinos are willing to sacrifice for the country... And how do we prepare for it? not tomorrow or next year or next presidential election... but preparation starts now... Today is the best time to be the best and be part of the Asian Century... :D

D Secret of Lance Armstrong

America will never have a Lance Armstrong - who dazzled the whole world for winning 6 times in the Tour de France and until now continue to inspire and support cancer victims - without the encouragement and support brought to him by his mom Linda.

I read her book "No Mountain Too High" where she feature how she raised Lance and more importantly raised herself. Yes she may started  badly in life(when she got pregnant at 17 and had an unhealthy relationship with her husband) but because of her love for her child and her growing relationship with the Lord, she managed to slowly and carefully fix their lives. And Lance Armstrong is a living testimony of her efforts...

There are so many enlightening quotes which she shared in the book like, "Loving somebody is about what flows out of your heart, not what comes back." This could be a busted cliche all of us may know already, but hearing it from a person like Linda - daughter, sister, wife, mom, friend, employee - who may be just an ordinary person but is giving her extraordinary effort to love and care for her family and friends is indeed a statement. I also agree when she said, "Your job is what you do. Your career is who you are."

Lemme end with this quote i read somewhere that in every success of a man is woman. :D

Rain + bow = Amazing!

Some amazing facts I learned about rainbows:

- a rainbow is sunlight spread out into its spectrum of colors and diverted to the eye of the observer by water droplets. When the white sunlight is intercepted by a drop of water in the atmosphere, some of the light refracts into the drop, reflects from the drop's inner surface and then refracts out of the drops.
- The colors can be seen only when the angle of reflection between the sun, the drop of water, and the observer's line of vision is between 40° and 42°.
- to see a rainbow, one has to have rain and sunshine
- two observers do not, and cannot, see the same rainbow. In fact, each eye sees its own rainbow(Your rainbow is for your eyes only! Amazing isn't it?)
- the sun is always behind you when you face a rainbow from the ground
- the center of the circular arc of the rainbow is in the direction opposite to that of the sun
- the rain is always in the direction of the rainbow
- you will only be able to find rainbow at ground if the sun is less than 42 degree above the ground (early morning or before sun set)
- primary rainbow is always brighter than the secondary rainbow
- primary rainbows have red on the outside arc
- the colors of the secondary rainbows are reversed

I once saw a primary and secondary rainbow near our house in QC just before the rain pours... I was so fascinated by its beauty and fell in love with it...
