Davao 2010: Ponce Suites Art Gallery Hotel

During our check-in we were greeted by friendly Maan, Kublai Millan's wife(right) who reviewed our itinerary, suggested routes and other places to visit and even taught us how to reach them by commuting. We learned that they have gigs in one of the bars in Matina Town Square where she performs as a singer. Wow an artist too :)

The lobby will welcome you with visually stimulating walls, colorful ceiling lights at the reception area and a gigantic wooden sculpture of a man reaching the ceiling light.


Each floor of this three-level gallery hotel has its own story. Every hallway and wall is decorated with rows and columns of canvass, art photos, still life paintings, art pieces made of driftwood, hair, old clothes, nails, steel, glass, paper and all sorts of scrap.




Every art piece that you can see here at Ponce Suites are results of the creativity and genius of Mindanao’s renowned artist Kublai Millan. He is also the man behind the gigantic sculptures you can see inside Peoples's Park and "The Durian" sculpture in the Davao International Airport.
