Being precedes doing. Sonship precedes servanthood. Loving Jesus precedes Serving Him.
Discipleship
should be cradled in love and relationship with Jesus otherwise it will be a
burden.
THE MANDATE: THE GREAT COMMANDMENT
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37)
•
One
Thing is necessary... (Luke 10:42)
•
One
Thing I do, forgetting... (Phil 3:13-14)
•
One
Thing have I asked of The Lord..... (Ps 27:4)
Knowing the one
greatest thing in our life allows us to focus on the one magnificent obsession
to be able to utilize our one consuming passion - that is to prioritise seeking
the Lord‘s presence, pursuing Lord Jesus and knowing Him more. When we love
Jesus it makes serving Him such a joy and not a chore.
Knowing Jesus
does not end in intellectual knowledge. Knowing Him leads to loving him. To know is not only to be
intellectually informed but include perceiving, learning, willing, obedience,
performing and experiencing
Jesus in our everyday lives. It encompasses cognitive, obedience, experiential
and intimacy with Jesus.
God already took
the initiative by purchasing our salvation through His Son‘s death. All we need
to do is to make that personal choice to believe in Jesus Christ for eternal
life.
We love
because He first love us – 1 John 4:19
In our quest for
the ONE THING, Psalm 27:4 break it down for us:
[Purpose] One thing have I asked of the Lord,
[Pursuit] That will I seek after:
[Preoccupation] That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
[Passion] To gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to enquire in His Temple.
As we pursue
God‘s heart, we should be intentional. We can seek after God by having the
desire, discipline, delight and doing devotion; reading His Word; prayer;
listening to Him; journaling and the like.
Our preoccupation
should entail living in the presence; learning to surrender everything to God
and living for the audience of One(God alone).
To consume our
passion means to pursue intimacy with God who is the source of love and the
Lover of our souls.
Intimacy is an
end in itself. Blessing are the by product. Blessings include greater intimacy
and having the desire to know him that leads to discipline to delight to
devotion. Intimacy with God also allow us to deal with our inner self and be
able to hear His heart.
THE MISSION: THE GREAT COMMISSION
“Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptising them in the Name of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:20)
“but
you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you
shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea
and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
Each
of us has a part in carrying out the great commission in the marketplace. To
love The Lord our God is The Heartbeat of our Mission. The Streams from which
all service overflow. Across the street or around The Word, The Mission is
still the same: To live and preach The Truth in Jesus Name. We can accomplish
this through our personal witness that can be manifested in our personal
revival, divine appointment and active obedience.
“Intimacy in The Secret Place overflows into The
Marketplace”
We conclude that the
great commandment fuels the great commission.
