Australia: Gold Coast and Surfer's Paradise

Today we are covering mostly beaches. First stop, Gold Coast, where initially thought its because of the light and granular sand beach but later I found out its because everything is gold here. Figuratively.

According to my other friend Wikipedia - The Gold Coast was originally known as the SouthCoast (because it was south of Brisbane). However, inflated prices for real estate and other goods and services led to the nickname of "Gold Coast" from 1950. South Coast locals initially considered the name "Gold Coast" derogatory.

The Gold Coast is a metropolitan region south of Brisbane on Australia’s east coast. It's famed for its long sandy beaches, surfing spots and elaborate system of inland canals and waterways. It’s also home to theme parks such as Dreamworld, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild. Inland, hiking trails crisscross Lamington National Park’s mountain ridges and valleys, home to rare birds and rainforest. Thanks again Wikipedia!

Jumpshots are best taken nowhere else but in the beach!!!

Next stop we have to fill our tank with some good food. And because we are in a coast line it's the best place to have fresh seafood for lunch. Right along the road we found Sandbar restaurant with relaxing ambiance and happy diners so we went through. We were refreshed by their Iced cold coffee with two espresso shots and a vanilla ice cream on top. Perfect for the warm and humid weather. Then we get to try their tender calamare with fresh salad, their famous fish and chips, their own version of buffalo wings and flavoured chicken salad which is very fresh and savory. Overall a satisfying feast with these vibrant ladies. Cheers!

Final beach destination is a nearby paradise not only for surfers but for people who love the sun, sand and the sea. Time to get more Vitamin Sea!

Surfers Paradise is a seaside resort on Queensland's Gold Coast in eastern Australia. It's known for its high-rise skyline and Surfers Paradise Beach, which hosts a popular market several evenings a week. Along Cavill Avenue are shops, cafes and lively nightclubs. The towering Q1 building, with its SkyPoint observation deck, offers panoramic ocean and city views. Wikipedia credits.
